"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

How keen are ya?

Hello Friends,

SSE 15-20 kts of wind pretty much tells the story of your prospects this morning. Swell faded overnight and is now probably sub-2 metres at sea. It’s SSE at around 6 seconds down at Port Kembla (our nearest waverider buoy at the moment), so we’re heading into pretty marginal territory. Dee Why beach was mostly waist high and smaller. Plus, the Bureau is saying the swell will fade through the day. The MHL folks could use some smaller sea conditions so they can get out and replace that buoy off Sydney. It was supposed to have happened last week, so here’s hoping for this week…

Tide is high at 08555 and low at 1525.

Went along the beaches from Manly to Dee Why this morning and can report that the former was reasonably clean but fat, full and right on the margin of surfable. Bigger around at Curly, but obviously a lot bumpier – and no one surfing. Dee Why, well, it seemed a tiny bit cleaner and bigger than an hour or so earlier this morning.

Outlook is for small conditions today and then a slight size rebound tomorrow with benign wind conditions for the early – but obviously tide-affected too.

Thursday’s shaping to be bigger again (models are showing a long period pulse from the south that could deliver overhead wave faces at south magnets) but the wind will be SE at 15-25 kts, so there has to be a question mark over the quality. Friday looks like dropping back again and more south wind. Saturday looks knee to waist with light wind in the morning.

Next week looks kinda quiet to me, but, as always, we shall see. Have a great Tuesday!
