So pretty, so tiny

Hello Friends,

Beautiful Sunday for Mother’s Day, unless Mum’s a surfer (hi Amy and Eve!). Swell’s faded right away to just about nothin’ this morning. The MHL buoy was detecting 13.8-sec energy from 130 degrees at well under a metre. There’s also some shorter period, slightly bigger stuff from both the south and the east, but when you add it together at Dee Why, you’re struggling to get wave faces into the waist high range. Pretty much mals and similar only today.

Tide was low at 0700 and will be back to high at 1305. At 0830, wind was out of the NNW 6-10 kts and it’s due to be 20-30kts by lunchtime. That won’t help the already feeble swell.

Outlook for the next couple of days is more offshores and only tiny waves – if that. Given the wind, I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets blown flat for the front half of the week.

But…

We should see a south pulse from late Wednesday through to the weekend. Thursday and Friday mornings look potentially quite interesting particularly if the models have it right on the wind front. I’m hoping for a couple of metres at least at spots that like dead south swell.

Have a great day; particularly all you Mums out there!
