International Surfing Day 19 June 2015 Harbord Diggers

International Surfing Day and the stars will be out

Every year at this time Surfrider Foundation celebrates International Surfing Day with beach clean-ups and the like. It’s also an occasion for Surfrider crew and friends to get together for a few libations and delectations of a foodly sort. This time around the beach cleans will be happening again, but here on the northern beaches there’s also going to be a fundraiser night of the surfing stars at Harbord Diggers from 4pm on Friday the 19th of June. And Surfrider wants everybody to come along.

It’ll be a chance to mix with such surfing royalty as Layne Beachley, Barton Lynch, Rabbit Bartholomew, Damien Hardman, Phyllis O’Donell, Simon Anderson, Jack McCoy, Nathan Hedge, Rob Bain and more. Plus the tunes will be in the capable hands of the northern beaches own Celibate Rifles. Jack McCoy will be sharing surfing flicks, there’ll be barefoot bowls with a unique surfer twist (bias?), major door prizes (want a new board?) and of course food and drink. Among the highlights of the evening will be the unveiling of a beautiful sandstone sculpture by Mick Purdy which will become part of the Freshwater headland’s Surfers Walk of Fame.
