Tuesday early before the wind

Hello Friends,

Interesting start to the day – given the forecast for gale-strength wind later. It was lightly offshore under mainly clear skies, tide was approaching the low at 0800. So, not a bad set of conditions at all. Problem was that the MHL buoy was showing less than a metre of SE wind chop. I spotted one optimist just up the beach from the surf club, but they didn’t catch anything while I watched. It looks like sets might be in the mid-thigh range, if that. But that should all start to change before much longer.
The Bureau is calling for 20-30 kts of southerly to fill in before long and they’re telling us we have an 80% chance of showers too. The swell should start building up not long after the wind gets going. Not that there’ll be many surf options given those settings.
The wind’s going to hammer along hard tomorrow and Friday and the Bureau says the south swell will be in the 2-3 metre range. Right now it looks like the wind will be smashing things through Saturday. But the models are pointing to a wind shift to the SSW for Sunday morning so, if the swell hangs in there, that could be the best shot at a decent wave.
As always, we shall see…
Have yourself a top old Tuesday one and all!
