Thursday cold early but clean enough to surf

Hello Friends,

It’s not super clean, in fact, it’s a pretty raw looking swell, but as of 0500 wave heights at sea were into the 4 metre range. For Dee Why this meant the beach was wildly out of control and the point was, well, you can see from the pictures – definitely surfable if you have the skill and fitness and don’t mind the sub-10 wind chill. Clearly though, this is not a morning for casual or beginner surfers.
Speaking of wind, it was coming from the WSW at around 15-20 kts when I checked for the first time at around 0645. However, the Bureau says it’ll swing south and be back to yesterday’s 25-30 kts. There’s a 95% chance of more showers too.
Outlook is for more blasting southerly wind tomorrow and then SE’ly on Saturday. Swell should peak in the next 24 hours but it’s looks like it won’t exactly be going flat. From this morning’s run of the models, it looks as though things might simmer down after that and maybe there’ll be some fun ones around for the early on Sunday and Monday.
Have yourself a top old Thursday and get up to some good where you can!
