Another foggy start to the day

Hello Friends,

Wind was 10+ knots from the NE at 0700 and the Bureau says it’ll ratchet up into the 15-25 kt range later. Lots of moisture in the atmosphere too, so there’s a 95% chance of showers. The MHL buoy was showing a metre of 11-second SSE bump, but there wasn’t much of anything at Dee Why. A few bods were up the beach from the SLSC where there seemed to be a vaguely surfable little stretch of the otherwise undistinguished banks. I’d call it about ankle to knee. Tide wasn’t a problem early. It’s now coming into a high at 1235.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Goat has to say in this week’s forecast. My take is that we’re maybe going to see a little uptick in the NE windswell, but it’ll be struggling to get into the chest high range at magnet spots this weekend.

Hang in there everyone, the waves will come back – they always do. So keep on smilin’ and have yourself a top old day.

Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the central Tasman Sea extends a ridge to southeast Queensland while a broad, slow-moving trough lies over NSW. The high is expected to weaken today as the trough deepens and moves over the coast. Winds are likely to tend east to southeasterly over southern parts of the coast today and become fresh to strong over central waters with the deepening of the trough. Winds should tend back to the northeast during Thursday and strengthen over the southern coast as a new high moves into the southern Tasman Sea and gradually extends a ridge over NSW. North to northeast winds are expected to freshen over southern and central parts of the coast on Friday.
