Dee Why’s off the surfable list this morning

Hello Friends,

20-25 kts of SE wind and grey and showery skies greeted the early risers this morning along Sydney’s coast. Real Victory at Sea conditions. Primary swell was about 3 metres at 9 seconds from the S-SE but there was also a reasonable amount of stuff coming at us from the NE.

Not that it matters much to surfers today, but tide was high at 0550 and will be low again at 1205.

There’s a 95% chance of more rain today as well. Lovely.

To the extent it matters, the energy levels look like peaking today and then very gradually fading as we get to the weekend. Unfortunately it seems that the wind will not play nice until maybe (briefly) for the early on Friday. Between now and then it seems we’re in for wave-wrecking southerlies.

Oh well, it’ll come good again, so on to other things for now. Have a great one!

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea is moving slowly east, while a trough deepens along the northern New South Wales coast. This pattern is directing easterly winds over most waters, strong over Hunter and Macquarie waters. A low centre may develop within the trough during Tuesday, most likely about the Macquarie coast, before moving slowly to the northeast during Wednesday, with strong to gale force southerly winds extending to the remainder of the northern coast. Winds should gradually ease during Thursday as the low moves east across the Tasman Sea.
