Turns out I was wrong about what would happen this morning. I thought it’d be ankle to knee, but as the pics show, kiddies at Dee Why was producing waist and a bit bumps courtesy of 1.3 metres of 9-second SSE swell. It’s not refracting much (see the WRL south Narra shot), but if you were in the right spot at the right beach, it looks like there was fun to be had. Wind was 13-22 kts WNW at North Head as I wrote this and the Bureau still has a strong wind warning for it to be 20-25 kts later this morning. Tide was high at 0655 and will be low again at 1245. According to Beachwatch, water temp is around 17.
This is Goat’s forecast day, so I’ll defer to his wisdom about surf outlook for the next week…

A low pressure system over Victoria has established a gusty westerly flow over the waters. Later today the low will move well offshore over the Tasman Sea, with conditions gradually easing as a weak high pressure system moves over eastern Australia. The next cold front looks set to affect the region later on the weekend.
