Waves for the early but wind picking up

Hello Friends,

Northerly wind was coming up by 0900 on its way to 15-25 kts later. Waves looked somewhat junky when I grabbed the pics, but they were in the chest plus range on sets and definitely rideable. Tide was dropping to the 0.5 m low at 1000 (it’s back to a shallow 1.3m high at 1600) and out at sea a few hours earlier, the MHL buoy was detecting 1.7 m of 12 second swell from the SSE plus some component out of the NE – which the forecast tells us should push up a little during the day.

It’ll be north corners only soon.

Tomorrow looks like having somewhat smaller waves according to the models, but the wind call is for W-SW → N-NW, so could be, um, variable. Tues-Weds look puny right now but Friday has the potential to be solid in the morning according to some models.

Have a great Sunday one and all!

A weak high pressure systems lies over the Tasman Sea while a cold front about the Bight is moving east. Winds will tend northerly and increase today ahead of the passage of the frontal system, which is forecast to move through southern and central parts of the coast late tonight or early Monday. In its wake a weak ridge will develop over the south.
