Mother’s Day waves

  1. Hello Friends,

15-20 kts of SW wind at 0900 and the 0700 MHL data was showing 4.45 m of 13-sec swell from the south. Sets at the point were solidly overhead and it appeared to be reasonably consistent – which is good given the crowd at the point. Hope everyone’s giving the mums first go.

Wind is supposed to be out of the south at 25-30 kts today, so this morning’s comparatively clean conditions at the point likely won’t last.

Tide was a 1.6 m high at 0620, low will be a 0.4 m at 1230.

This morning’s forecast models show southerly wind for the next three days and swell should stay at about the current intensity for the next 24 hours before starting to gradually decay back to small by the end of he week.

Your correspondent is hitting the road tomorrow, so expect the occasional postcard at irregular intervals for the next week!

Have a great Mother’s Day mums!

Weather Situation
An intense low pressure system lies over the western Tasman Sea, while a high is strengthening south of the Bight. This pattern is driving vigorous winds over most of the New South Wales coast, periodically bolstered by the passage of troughs embedded within the broader pattern. Some areas are also experiencing large waves generated by this system. Conditions are expected to gradually ease later today and during Monday as the low moves away to the east, allowing the approaching high to become dominant.
