Wind not too bad early

Hello Friends,

Wind was only 2-3 kts early but it was coming from the SSE. Looking back at the history, it appears to have faded at around 0530, so I think the light air won’t last long enough for the bump to subside. Swell looked to be waist to chest plus along the beach and at the point, but I didn’t catch anyone on a wave when I took the pics. The MHL buoy was showing 2 metres of 12-sec SSE (158-160°) at 0500. According to the Bureau, the swell should come up a bit and the wind will go around to the E-NE at 10-15kts. Tide hits a 0.5 m low at 0935 and is back to a 1.6 m high at 1615. Ocean watch says water is 16°C and flagged potentially dodgy water at Queenscliff.

Outlook is for the short period stuff to continue tomorrow, but for the swell direction to swing more east and for the wind to be out of the NE by late morning. The next 3-4 days are shaping to be small and marginal with light to moderate onshores but not going totally flat. Scrappy in a word.

Have a top old Wednesday and kudos for keeness if you get wet!

Weather Situation

A strong high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea is extending a ridge into New South Wales, while a weakening low pressure trough lies along the northern half of the coast. The high will continue to drift slowly east during the next day or two, bringing a gradual shift from southeasterly to northeasterly winds in most coastal areas. Increasing northerly winds will precede the next cold front, which is forecast to cross the southern coast on Friday, continuing to the north on Saturday.
