Hello Friends,
Went out in the rain for a look at the surf conditions and can report that protected spots such as Collaroy are way too small to surf. The exposed stretches were hopelessly blown out thanks to the gale conditions. So, a good day to get on with other things. Rain should slacken off across the day and be back to showers tomorrow. Beachwatch has hoisted the ‘pollution possible’ warning for beaches up the peninsula and likely polluted from Curly on south. Water’s 20C.
The wind is set to be south to SE through Monday while the swell remains short period and junky.
Tuesday might offer a little respite, but then, if the long range models have it right, there’s going to be another burst of intense southerly wind from Wednesday into the weekend. The more dramatic predictions are showing 4+ metres in the 11-12s range at the peak. Not sure if we’ll get much in the way of surfable opportunities though…
Have a great Friday everyone and stay happy!
Weather Situation
A trough has stalled about the Hunter Coast, and a low pressure circulation is developing within it offshore. This is generating vigorous south to southeasterly winds on its southern flank, while lighter north to northwesterly winds lie to its north. The trough and low is forecast to gradually move northward today, pushing the south to southwesterly change along parts of the the north coast. This system is expected to weaken on the weekend as a high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge northward along the New South Wales coast.
