The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Thursday 17 January 2019: Seven day outlook for Sydney:

360 degree view…not a cloud in the deep blue sky. The sea is sparkling. The sun is shining. Pretty as a picture. A great day for the beach today..except for.. well, you know… waves~~~

Now you might say the surf hasn’t been great, and you might be right.

But I couldn’t help but notice – because there’s 10 of ’em right in your face whenever you go in the water – that the kids are having a ball!

They think it’s great!!

And believe it or not, there are occasional waves that you’re happy to catch, among the rubbish, if you fluke being in the right spot at the right tide and are patient. If you’re not, cool down with a swim.

For the coming week… stay cool…some more hot days are forecast. If you’re lucky enough to be able to get wet, then just getting wet is likely to be the most excitement you can expect at the beach.  Or, you could just be lucky enough to fluke that occasional freak wave – ie, one that’s rideable.

Watch out for blueys… there were a few biggies floating around today.

Stay happy!

TG

Friday: continuing North East windswell, somewhere in the 1-2 metre range depending on where you are along the beach

Saturday: an early morning southerly change – starting out at 25-40 kph according to the BoM – will knock that down and chop it up and generally make it unpleasant on the beach (kids, and visitors, and anyone else)

Sunday: small end of the 1-2 metre range at places that get dead South windblown waves, and onshore

Monday: 1 metre or less at dead South places

Tuesday: 1 metre or less East South East

Wednesday: 1 metre or less North East, then another Southerly wind change to chop that up

Thursday: back to NE wind and small waves
