Tuesday morning cold and clean waves

Hello Friends,

Another cold and sunny morning with nice swell along the beaches. There were around 30 people in the water at the point by the time I checked it for the first time around 0730. Even with a consistent swell as this one looks to be, 30 folks is probably too many. Much of the problem comes down to the beach not having many peaks to offer surfers alternative choices. Maybe the last few days of activity will improve things…

Wind looks like being benign all day as it stays out of the westerly quarters. Tide was high at 0700 and is now dropping to the low 1230. The MHL buoy for Sydney is still out of action, but it looks as though swell at sea will be around the two metre mark from the SSE-SE at 11-12 seconds.  That extra touch of east is helping it wrap around the point I’d say. Beachwatch says ocean is 17C.

The models show swell energy fading out pretty rapidly across the day, but with luck we should have a few scraps in the waist high range tomorrow morning. Beyond that it appears that we’re potentially in for a week or so of really small to flat conditions.

So get out there and find a wave if you can!
