Scrappy Sunday surf

Hello Friends,

Light NW breeze chopping up a small SE wind swell this morning at Dee Why. Sadly the period is just 7 seconds, so along with the gloomy grey skies and lackluster surface conditions, the waves were looking very weak. Nevertheless, there were a few keen types scattered along the beach north from the point (where there were a couple of hopefuls sitting patitently). If you want a bit more size, I’d try better exposures up the beach or around at Curly.
Water quality has been given the tick by Beachwatch which also reports an ocean temperature of 17C (thanks to the NEr for the last couple of days no doubt).
Outlook is for the energy levels to drop a bit more in the next 24 hours – and then to hang around the metre level with short periods through most of the coming week. That said, one of the more optimistic modelers reckons it could actually be fun on Thursday at south magnet spots.
We shall see…

Weather Situation
A strong and slow-moving high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge towards New South Wales, bringing northeasterly winds to most of the coastal waters. A cold front is currently bringing a southerly change to the southern coast, and this will reach central parts of the coast today before stalling. A second front will follow on Monday, pushing the change to the Queensland border by Tuesday.
