Went for a wander along the beautiful Isar River yesterday around (20 kms from Munich) and to our surprise we noticed a couple of young guys carrying surfboards. A short distance later on we came upon the Ickinger Weir where they were surfing a standing wave. Evidently the wave is formed by a submerged log that has been wedged there. In this photo you can also see a couple of surfers lined up on the wall waiting for their turn. Looked like a lot of fun, however given the water came from the Alps a little to the south, the surfers were wearing a lot of rubber.
This guy had the best style. Here he is on the wave of the day at Ickinger Weir, Munich, Germany!
