Tiny early on Thursday

Hello Friends,

The Bureau has a surf conditions warning this morning, but I couldn’t see any sign of dangerous conditions at Long Reef or Dee Why this morning. Indeed, as the pictures show, it was only just barely surfable at Longy. Looking at the latest MHL data as of 0400, there was 1.4 metres of 11-12 sec south swell at sea. Wind was coming from the east at around 10kt under cloudy skies when I checked the beach. It’s expected to pick up as the day goes along. Tide was high at 0640 and ocean is on 23C.

From the look of the models this morning we’re going to see swell building through the weekend, but the forecasts also show relentless onshores with it. I hope the Goat has a more encouraging take on the prospects this afternoon.

Have a great Thursday everyone.

A high pressure system will remain near-stationary over the southern Tasman Sea for the next several days, bringing onshore winds to the New South Wales coast. A low pressure trough is expected to deepen near the northern coast today and during Friday, extending to parts of the central and southern coast on the weekend. Easterly winds are likely to strengthen around the south of this trough over the coming days.
