Waves to be had early

Hello Friends,

Wind backed off overnight so as Saturday began we had a light WSW breeze and smooth surface conditions most places. Swell faded significantly overnight too. There are still a few shoulder plus sets in the mix but mostly it seems to be in the waist to chest high range. Fairly busy in the water too with folks clustered at various points along the beach from North Narrabeen to Surfrider Gardens, and around the corner from Longy lifeguard hut to the point at Dee Why. Swell at sea was around 1.6 metres at 8-9 seconds from 135°. First tide of the daylight hours was the low at 0650. We have a 1.56 m high at 1325.
Weather should be partly cloudy with a 50% chance of a little shower as we head to a high of 19C. Water is sitting on the same temp.
Your surf options will pretty much go away later this morning when the southerly settles in, so the plan is definitely to hit it immediately. Swell should ramp up as the wind arrives, but my hunch is that the period won’t be long enough to let it refract into the protected corners. Tomorrow promises to be steadily southerly with a couple metres of 8-9 sec dead south swell. Monday morning for the morning sesh could see lighter winds and waist plusses at south magnets. The Tuesday looks smaller and more marginal with the morning again being the plan. The rest of the week potentially will be in the knee to waist high range with maybe a bit of an uptick on Friday…
Go well everyone and take your masks for interior spaces!

Weather Situation
A low pressure system over the Tasman Sea should continue moving eastwards away from Australia. Meanwhile a high south of Australia will push a southerly wind surge up the New South Wales coast through Saturday. Winds will gradually shift easterly over the coming days as the high moves into the Tasman Sea Monday.
