The Goat’s Surf Forecast

The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Thursday 29 January 2021: Seven day outlook for Sydney:

It’s wet. Been drizzling fine steady rain all day. And it looks like showers will continue on and off over the weekend and into the week.

Cheer yourself up with some good news: It’ll be warmer than today… and TG’s cousins in the bush tell him they’ve had good rain and it’s continuing, harvests have been great, the grass is high, animals are good, and rivers are running.

Back at the coast, the surf In Sydney didn’t have a lot of takers today, but there were the usual keen ones determined to get some exercise in mostly ordinary conditions, though there wasn’t much wind at times.

The weekend outlook is for N/NE wind Sat, and SE Sun, which will mean adjusting your options to the changing conditons. But hey we’re all getting pretty good at being flexible and adjusting to changing open and shut conditions on the Covid front almost daily, so you’ll have no trouble adapting to changing surf conditions on a day to day basis I’m sure.

The outlook through the week depends on what a Low does, expected to develop around Tuesday off Bass Strait. But East Coast Lows movements are notoriously dificult to predict, so the surf will depend on where it is and when and the direction of the wind…

At this stage the surf outlook is:

Saturday: around the upper end of the 1-2 metre range, maybe 2ish metres Eastish, with N/NE wind

Sunday: easing back a little in the 1-2 metre range Eastish, with strong S/SE wind chopping it up at places open to the South

Monday: down to around 1-1+ metres East

Tuesday: somewhere in the 1-2 metre range Eastish; possibly starting to come up late in the day depending on the Low… but TG thinks most likely not

Wednesday: If the Low does what’s expected now, starting to come up in the 2, 2-3 metre range at places open to dead South

Thursday: ditto “if”… easing back to somehwere in the 1-2 metre rnage Eastish

Friday: 1-2 metres, maybe 2+ metres East North East

Lots of variety and unknowns for you. But we all like surprises don’t we…

Be agile and jump around a lot. Keep your wits about you hey 🙂

Have a good one.

TG.
