The Goat’s Surf Forecast

The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Thursday 18 February 2021: Seven day outlook for Sydney:

When I rolled over in bed each day this week and sang out to TG: What’s it like? …… He yelled back, Onshore! Onshore!

Some dill in Mother Nature’s Weather Production Department clearly misheard him, and thought he was saying Encore! Encore!

So he’s been giving us more of the same!>>> coming off the top of a great big High plonked over the Tasman.

Both realised the error of their ways today, and at least the wind eased off . But the swell is gonna keep on coming… A bit like an ocean liner with a lot of momentum up, it can take a while to change direction even after ‘the wheel’, the wind, has been turned (see wind forecast by the Bureau below).

As far as wave quality is concerned, for the weekend and week ahead you should pay attention to wind direction, knowing the swell will continue from an Eastish direction… as the experienced will know.

The swell will also have some size and oomph to it a lot of the time, so it won’t be for the surfing inexperienced, the young, or community Elders, and will present some rips for the unwary general public I’m sure.

Know your limitations.

Stay safe.
