Bomb set wave Dee Why point

Solid Sunday

Hello Friends,

The forecast says southerly 20-25 kts, but as of 0820 wind was still westerly 10-14 kts at North Head, so as you can see from the pictures, surface conditions, while not smooth, weren’t too rugged. And there’s still heaps of swell. As of 0810 the 3.5 m energy was coming from 156° at 11-12 seconds apart. At Dee Why that meant head high to 1.5x overhead with bombs going bigger still. It had that raggedy, sectiony look of a raw swell, so quality was definitely variable.

The big stuff should stick around through Monday and still be fun size through Wednesday. After that it looks like at least a couple of rest days before kicking up again for next weekend.

What an amazing autumn.

Calling that overhead
Sectiony but sizable

Weather Situation
A vigorous southerly airstream is persisting along the New South Wales Coast from a deep low pressure system over the eastern Tasman Sea, bringing strong south to southwesterly winds and damaging surf conditions across all waters. Winds are forecast to gradually ease from today, although surf conditions are expected to remain hazardous for the next few days with large and powerful south to southeasterly swell, as a high pressure system to the southwest of Victoria slowly moves across the state early in the new week.
