Blasting wind and thundering swell

Hello Friends,

Wind was gusting pretty hard at RealSurf HQ this morning. It was WSW 18-15 kts down at North Head, but at 100 metres of altitude  where I am, it was hard to stand up. Swell looked raw, rugged and big at Dee Why and out at sea, the wave rider buoys were seeing 5.6 meters of 14-15 second dead south swell. There were a few people getting their exercise near the point as of 0900 but pretty obviously, this is not a day for any but the fittest and most experienced hellpersons (who also live within 5km of the beach).

Tide was low at 0410 and will be back to a moderate 1.47 m high at 1015. There’s still the possibility of a passing shower, but skies looked to be clearing to partly cloudy.

The Bureau has posted Large and Powerful surf conditions warnings for the next three days, along with SW gale warnings for today and tomorrow.

Stay safe, take the mask when you go out and know your limits!

Weather Situation

A low pressure system off the central coastal waters is leading to gale to storm force south to southwesterly winds across central and southern coastal waters. Winds will gradually ease today and tomorrow as the low slowly drifts east.
