Sunday still seeing sets

Hello Friends,

Another busy morning in the water for those in the Dee Why bubble. It’s dropped since yesterday, but there were still a few sets into the head high range at the point and along the beach.

As of 0930 wind at North Head was coming from the NW at just 3-5 kts and out at sea, the buoys were seeing 2.2 metres of 11 second energy from the SSE (143°). That touch of east should see more surf options around the place too. Here’s hoping your bubble includes one such.

From the look of the models this morning, our surf prospects are set to fade steadily away to about nothing mid-week. And then, if they’re right, it’ll stay micro until Friday or so before coming back up.

Beachwatch says the water’s on 18C as we head to a partly cloudy day with a chance of a shower later this afternoon. Wind’s set to drift around to the north and then W/NW but stay in the 10-15 kt range.

Have yourself a safe Sunday everyone and mask up. Even if you’re lucky enough to be a double-jabster like myself, you can still catch and transmit the virus.

Weather Situation

A deep low over the Tasman Sea is weakening and moving away to the east, while a cold front moves over western New South Wales. Winds shifting northerly during today ahead of the cold front which will cross coastal waters late in the day or early Monday, bringing a fresh to strong west to southwesterly change. Coastal waters will then be mostly under a northerly influence as a high pressure system establishes over the eastern Tasman Sea on Tuesday.
