Sunshine, offshore and little waves for Father’s Day

Hello Friends,

The cloud pulled away from the Northern Beaches a little before 0900, leaving clear blue skies and a light WNW breeze. However, the Bureau has hoisted the gale warning and warns that it will soon pick up from the SW. And there’s a medium chance of an afternoon shower. Swell at sea was around the metre mark at 8-9 seconds from the east. As the pictures show, the point didn’t have any takers for obvious reasons. Up the beach, just north of Kiddies, there were a dozen or so hopefuls hanging out, but no one caught a wave while I was grabbing the snaps. Judging from where they were sitting, I’d guess sets are maybe waist high.

Tide was high at 0710 and will be back to low at 1245. Water temp is steady on 18C and despite around 12mm of rain in the last 24 hours, the beaches were all looking clean.

The swell models show a near straight south 2+ metre, 9-11 sec pulse filling in overnight. The Bureau calculates that it’ll be into the 3 metre range and warns we can expect some stiff S-SW wind with it. Tuesday to Thursday mornings are currently looking rather hopeful on the models. If it plays out as they project, we could be looking at pretty fun chest to head high energy.

Stay safe, get the jab sorted and wear the mask when you’re out, oh, and have a top old Sunday!
