Glassy and just rideable this morning

Hello Friends,

Another cloudy start to the day, but at least the wind’s backed off for the early session. Surface conditions were super smooth and the metre or so of 8-second east windswell was producing soft, slow, but sort of rideable knee to thigh high bumps at Northy, south Narrabeen and from the Lagoon to Kiddies at Dee Why. The tide hits a 1.65 m high at noon, so, if anything, the waves are probably going to get even softer. Water temp is on 20C.

Wind should come up from the NE as the day goes along and should be a summer standard 15-20 kts by this afternoon.

Tomorrow and Friday mornings look like being similar to today, so if you found something suitable today you’ll know where to go.

The Saturday south pulse that’s been in the cards for some time is currently looking like being 2-3 metres at 10 seconds but with cloudy, showery weather and southerly wind. If you’re planning to join the line in the sand at Collaroy-Narrabeen on Saturday afternoon, you’ll likely need some manner of rain protection. And, if you can get there on foot or bike, that’d be good too. There won’t be any speeches or marching, we’ll just form a line of humans along the beach to show what we think of the massive, beach-hostile wall.

Have a fine old Wednesday everyone!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea will continue to move slowly east in coming days, to be located near New Zealand by Friday. A trough of low pressure will move into the west of the state today, and combined with the high, northerly winds will strengthen along the east coast. A southerly change will move north along the coast on Friday and Saturday mornings as the trough moves off the east coast and a new high becomes established in the Bight.
