"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Missable Wednesday morning

Hello Friends,

Swell’s faded away to knee to waist high at best. It’s raining and although the wind was still SSW at 0830, it’s going to be southerly before long.

Only people I saw in the water were the few hopefuls at Dee Why (see pics) and an optimist paddling out into the weak, little sideshore junk at Northy.

Swell at sea was coming from the S by SSW (ie, it’s headed away from the coast) and although it was 2.7 metres out there, the period was just 7 seconds, so not much hope of any bending back into our beaches.

Wind is set to go SE toward dusk and then to stay that way through Friday. I am not hopeful about our immediate prospects. And longer term doesn’t look very exciting either, but we’ll see what the Mighty Goat has to say tomorrow…

From ABC News this morning, it seems that the Omicron wave may have reached its peak. That is good news as it could mean the stress starts coming off the hospitals and health care workers around mid-Feb. and life will start going back to as normal as it can be under the circumstances. So I’m keeping the N95 on when I’m around others for now, but nurturing hopes for February.

Go well!

Weather Situation

South to southeasterly winds will extend north along the northern coast and increase today as a high pressure system to the south of the Great Australian Bight strengthens and moves east. Fresh to strong southeasterly winds are then forecast to persist for the remainder of the week.
