Gloomy skies but swell continues

Hello Friends,

The Bureau says the wind will be strong and southerly today, but at first light it was SW and comparatively smooth in south corners. Swell offshore was S-SSE at 3.4 metres with a grunty 15 second period. Tide was low at 0540 and will be back to a moderate 1.4 m high at 1145. Skies were overcast at daybreak and the weather call is for a shower or two as the day goes along.

As the pictures show, the swell is pretty much overwhelming the open stretches, so your best shot will be a south corner like the point (which had a dozen in the water from daybreak).

From the shape of this morning’s forecast models, it looks as though tomorrow will be smaller but thanks to the long period, there should still be a few punchy ones left in the mix at the magnets. The good news is that we could have fun chest to shoulder plus and clean morning sessions through Thursday.

Not a day for beginners at the magnets, but maybe on Tuesday you folks can get in at a few more places.

Go well!

Weather Situation

A low pressure system lies off the central coast and is causing fresh to strong southerly winds across coastal waters. Meanwhile, powerful swells are likely to contract to the north coast late today before easing Sunday morning. Otherwise, a high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea will maintain a ridge over New South Wales for the next few days.
