Big lines at Dee Why this morning

Hello Friends,

Light WNW wind and 2.6 metres of 15-sec SE swell were making for challenging conditions at Dee Why. The bomb sets were too much for the point, while regular sets were mostly too big for the beach. So, lots of shutdowns if you weren’t at the point and quite a bit of paddling around if you were. Obviously this is a morning only for the very fit and experienced riders. If in doubt, sit it out.

Outlook is for a showery day with east to SE wind bumping things up. First tide of the day is a 0.6m low at 1000.

From the shape of the swell model predictions this morning, it looks as though we’ll have energy through Thursday at least…

Go well everyone!

Weather Situation

Southerly winds will ease and a deceptively powerful southerly swell will persist during today, as a high pressure system to the southwest of Tasmania slowly moves east, maintaining a ridge along the New South Wales coast. After this, winds will tend northeasterly and increase ahead of the passage of trough, which looks likely to bring a fresh west to southwesterly change on Friday.
