Near flat for Sunday morning at Dee Why

Hello Friends,

Looks like a nice morning for a beach walk or a swim at Dee Why. Surfwise you’d be lucky to get something in the knee high range. Swell at sea was 0.8 m at 12 seconds from the ENE, so there should be the occasional catchable set at optimal exposures. Take your floatiest surf toy and you’ll probably get something to push you gently shoreward. As of 0830 the wind was WNW 5-9 kts at North Head. It’ll pick up as the day goes along. Beachwatch says we’re pretty much all clear on the water quality front. Water temp’s still not budged from 18. The day started with a low tide at 0715 and it will be back to a moderate 1.43 m high at 1405.

Tomorrow’s shaping to be properly flat but then from Tuesday onward the models show swell heights gradually getting into the 2 metre range by late Thursday. Wind should be southerly then, but Friday we could get lucky and have more SW wind plus a couple of metres of 9 second east swell.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Weather Situation

Fresh west to northwesterly winds are expected to continue through the weekend as a series of cold fronts move across the state’s south. Winds are forecast to ease during Monday as a high pressure system moves over the state. Then the high will contract to the Tasman Sea as the next low pressure system moves into the western inland on Tuesday.
