Saturday surf report

Saturday surf report

It;s a beaut sunny morning… and

Swell’s up.. 2.2 metres East according to the MHL buoy, with a 10+ second period… bigger sets from East North East 3-4 metres on the buoy, 12-14 second periods.

Size will vary from beach to beach depending on which way the beach faces… all Sydney beaches face various directions… and the the bathymetry off the beach – water depth, bottom type etc.

The Easterly swell should get into most places, but it’s surprising sometimes that places like Collaroy, which appears to face east, can be relatively small.

But it looks like mostly only for the experienced surfers… not beginners. I can see lots of white water and the surface is bumpy fromĀ  all the onshores we’ve been having.

Wind was/is light offshore WNW WSW etc depending on where you are on the coast, and I can feel onshore wind puffs every now and again so it’s changing as we speak, so to speak. The Bureau is forecasting the wind to go Easterly 15-20 kph, so that’ll chop up the surf nicely!

Tide’s gone high, so it’s going down now.

Combined with the swell that will create plenty of rips.

If you’re going to the beach for a swim, then swim between the flags. Some beaches may decide not to put the flags up because of conditions, so just go to the next one and see if it’s open.

And slip, slop, slap..wear a rashie when out on your board, and use sunscreen, as the UV index is up there today.

Have a good one!
