Glassy waves this morning

Hello Friends,

A light N-NW breeze was barely texturing the surface for those in the water by 0730 this morning. Swell was 1.2 metres from the south with a useful 15-second interval ensuring some push on the bomb sets. Speaking of which, there were definitely a few shoulder plusses on offer at the best exposures. Tide hit high at 0720 and will be back to low at 1305. It’s set to turn southerly this afternoon – and the swell’s likely to dial back – so the plan is to hit it asap.

Outlook for the next couple of days is not great. There should be some junky size about tomorrow, but the wind’s predicted to be SE and Monday it’ll be easterly with more short period dead south wind swell. Oh and the weather will be on the grey and boring side too. The rest of the week currently looks like being at best marginal for surfing, with the shortish period, east-ish wind bump producing only weak waist high conditions.

Go forth and have yourself a top old Saturday!

Weather Situation

A ridge of high pressure persists across central and northern coastal waters. A cold front will brush the east today and early Sunday, with a south to southeasterly wind change in its wake. Then the winds will turn onshore east to southeasterly from Sunday through early new week as a high pressure system moving over the Southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge across the coastal waters.
