Little waves on tap for Friday morning

Hello Friends,

Kind of busy looking along the Dee Why end of the beach as of 0800. Waves looked to be in the waist to maybe chest-high range on the sets. Wind was 10-13kts from the west under largely clear skies. At 0700 the MHL buoy was showing 1.7 metres from 170° at 9.5 seconds. The swell spike hit overnight, so yesterday’s experience is no guide to today’s surf prospects which are, obviously, much better. The wind should be SW later and then variable (ie, more likely to be onshore at times) in the afternoon. It looks as though the current energy levels should gradually fade overnight, but there will be surf options at south exposures all day.

Looking ahead to the coming surf week, may I refer you to the latest forecast from the Mighty Goat which came in late yesterday.

Go well with your Friday and good luck with the surf hunt.

Weather Situation

A low pressure trough is moving along the northern coast this morning with a ridge of high pressure developing over the southern waters. Northwesterly winds prevail ahead of the trough while winds have turned southwesterly further south. Winds are forecast to ease later today as the ridge strengthens before another cold front in southern and central parts during Saturday. Another high should then move towards Tasmania with a ridge of high pressure extending along the coast, bringing southerly winds along the coast on Sunday.
