Energy but lumpy and bumpy

Hello Friends,

Another day when you could surf if you were keen. As the pictures show, there were shoulder to chest-plus wave faces on offer at Dee Why, but the 2.5 metre 9-second period SSE swell was raw and messy. The wind was briefly WSW around daybreak, but by 0730 it had settled to the south and was 10-17 kts.

According to the Bureau, the southerly will build to 15-25 kts as the day develops while the wave energy will likely continue to be a confused combo of east and south swells. Oh, and there’s an 80% chance of showers too.

Outlook for tomorrow is more southerly wind, more showers and more jumbled swell, but Friday continues to look interesting for experienced riders. An intense low is forming off to the SE and if the Bureau’s right, we should wake up to a sunny morning with a rapidly building 3-4 metre SE swell. The wind call is for light SW wind too. On top of that, the tide’ll be coming into a modest 1.26 metre high at 1140. Beginners can write it off, but confident, fit riders should have a smorgasbord of surf choices.

Have a great Wednesday!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is extending a ridge along the NSW coast resulting in fresh southerly winds along most of the coast. From today a deep low pressure system will move into the Eastern Tasman contributing to winds becoming strong at times along northern parts of the coast. Winds will weaken Friday and tend southwesterly as the low moves south and a high pressure system forms over NSW.
