Sunny Sunday

Sunny Sunday morning is drawing the crowds.
Sunny Sunday morning is drawing the crowds.

Hello Friends,
How’s your Sunday shaping? If you’re in Sydney, we’re looking at 28 on the coast and 35 inland. Pretty much the same as yesterday really. The breeze is out of the SE at 8-9kts as I write this, but it’s expected to go around to the E-NE and get up to 15-20 kts. The consequences for the little scrappy NE windswell left over from last night are not great. It looks as though you might get a waist high bomb set at Dee Why – if you’re lucky. However there are comparatively few people in the water with boards, so the rideable ones are clearly pretty few and far between.

The MHL Sydney buoy is currently showing about a metre of 6 sec ENE windswell lapping in from the broad Pacific. Average periods are a touch better up along the north coast, but the difference is pretty minor and the average size is about the same as here in Sydney.

From the look of the forecasts and the models, we’re not likely to see much of any improvement over the coming week. Summer continues – big surprise.

However, the long range forecasts seem to be indicating that the present static pattern could possibly be starting to break down. I’m not getting excited just yet, but at least there seems to be something going on. Right now it looks as though next weekend might see some chest to shoulder high NE windswell at the better NE spots. Fingers crossed!

Go well!
