Hello Friends,
Out and about with the mobile RealSurf set up. First stop was Edgecliff Blvd for a squiz at the Collaroy-Narrabeen stretch. No one in at Collaroy really, but as you get up to about Marquesas, there were quite a few contending for the little sets. My strong impression overall is that we’re in for a very setty day, ie long waits between anything really surfable. Sets are not particularly big, but I did see a few waves that approached chest high at Gardens.
Around the corner at Long Reef things were pretty quiet as well. There was a little knot of folks waiting for the very occasional soft little waist high sets. Down the beach toward Dee Why there were a lot more people in the water but the size didn’t seem appreciably bigger when I pulled in to watch it. Like the Coll-Narra stretch, it’s setty and weak.
I’m writing this from high atop the headland at Curly. I’ll go down for a closer look after I post this, but from what I can see at this point is yet more of the same. No one’s in the water up the north end, a few are flopping around in the little shorey in the middle. Most people seem to be at the south end.
The MHL buoy is showing a couple metres at 9 sec from the SSE, but the swell looks to be shorter period than that to me – fwiw. Here’s the Bureau’s call…
Thursday until midnight: Wind: SW 10/15 knots, tending E/SE 15/20 knots in the afternoon. Sea: 1 to 2 metres. Swell: E/SE 1.5 to 2.5 metres.
Friday: Wind: SW 13/18 knots, turning SE 8/13 knots during the afternoon, NE 5/10 knots at night.Sea: 1 to 1.5 metres, abating to less than 1 metre at night. Swell: SE 2 to 2.5 metres.
More, including some pics, shortly.
BTW, I posted a bunch of pictures from Wed’s Manly sesh yesterday evening. Here’s the link.
