Running late, sorry
Posted on June 25th, 2009 in Gardens, North Narrabeen.Hello Friends,
Sorry, slept in. How remiss of me. Looks like we still have swell though. Woo-hoo! Huey’s still got the power setting on 10sec, but he’s set a new heading: SE. Heights at sea are around the two metre mark, so there are some fun size waves to be had again today.
Stopped at Mactier St for a look at the situation around 0840 and can report that there were some shoulder high sets on offer for a smallish and well scattered crew. It was dead glassy and there was a high, thin cloud layer taking some of the colour out of the scene. It looked a little setty to me and folks seemed to be getting caught behind on most of the waves I saw caught. Lefts predominate again.
Didn’t do the loop up to Northy, but from a distance it’s clear that there are sets happening up that way as well.
For those folks at the Bower yesterday who wanted to know when/where they could see the pics I shot with the Panasonic FT-1 waterproof digi cam: I’ve created a couple galleries over on my personal page that you can look through to see if I got any shots of interest.
Okay, a couple pics for ya:
ene swell on the wane, strong offshores
Posted on June 25th, 2009 in South Coast.Cracking waves y’day, early signs looks like its dropped a fair bit o’nite. 2-4ft waves out of the ENE with a stiff W wind blowing the backs off ‘em. Swell is forecast to ease further so probably best bet to get amongst it earlier than later if you can. Water still warm but plenty of wind chill. Rosco.

Fine, dry and cold on the Central Coast this Thursday morning. The swell is smooth and inconsistent at 2 – 3 feet from the east northeast. There is light west northwest breeze. High tide 1020 and low tide around 1555. Local barometer 1007 hpa, 7 degrees C. 94% humidity. Have a good one.
Byron Bay Today June 24th 2009
Posted on June 25th, 2009 in Byron, Just for fun, Local Colour, Surf Reports.Easy come easy go, the joyous barrels of yesterday were not to be seen, In Byron Bay Today. Don’t get me wrong here, there were waves to be had. But after yesterdays moments of cheerful cover ups we all had our expectations wound up to max overload. And of course we all know what happens if you get your expectations too high. You get brought back to earth with a resounding thud. The weather however was almost pleasant beyond belief and the light was mind blowing this afternoon. But the waves, well let’s just say it’s not hot. We seem to have two swells crossing up at the moment or least that’s how it looks from the cape. There’s a dominant easterly swell which is not straight to start with, and a softer smaller south swell running through it. End result the waves are twisting and bouncing all over the place, creating some pretty junky sections, In Byron Bay Today.
Shacked at DY
Posted on June 25th, 2009 in Surf Reports. These were definitely not the biggest ones today but it was pretty tricky, even on these.
You can’t tell from here, but that’s Toby Martin in there…

Posted on June 24th, 2009 in Fairy Bower.Hi evening folk,
Hope you got a wave or two today. I had one of those will-I-won’t-I days. Finally gave into that familiar itch. You know the deal, I’m sure. You know there are waves and you could go… but for whatever reason you put it off. But the antsy feeling finally wins out and you toss the board into the car…
I got there about half an hour before the northerly breeze turned into wind and the little chop turned into big chop. Still, I got wet and I got a few snaps. Very friendly crew out there too. A number of people said “hi”, a couple had a yarn (I always like a yarn!) about this and that. Saw a pod of porpoises too, and a little penguin and a gannet. I’m one of those folks who just digs seeing the creatures who live out their entire lives in and around the sea.
Not great conditions for picture taking, but I have the test sample Panasonic FT-1 waterproof camera to play with for a bit longer, so I figured I might as well grab a few snaps. I still haven’t figured out how to get clean shots every time with this camera. When it’s good, it’s very good, so I’m persisting.
BTW, a few of the folk in the water asked if there would be pics available on the site. The answer is yes, but I have to nut out an easy way to do it first…
Here are a few snaps for you. Have a top old evening!
Dropping tide
Posted on June 24th, 2009 in Gardens, South Narrabeen. It got overcast and cold, but for the hardy few who were willing to snap a board if they got in the wrong spot, there were waves to be had on the dropping tide. Ah, winter time.

Head high plus a bit on the sets. No wind. Good A frame peaks dying quickly because of high tide. Vicious south to north sweep (chap started paddle out 200 m to sth of me now half way out and 100 m to N.) Water quality awful. Plastic bits washed up everywhere.
Some sweet waves still around

You gotta love it when you paddle out to this

Better view from up here...

Niiiiice...
Great waves yesterday and today aint too bad either! Check out these Oceaneye shots from yesterday and this morning. Can’t tell you where they are though. You’ll have to work it out! Lots more photos can found in our Surf Sessions Gallery. Enjoy!
Plenty of nice waves with offshore winds
Posted on June 24th, 2009 in Curl Curl, Surf Reports.3 feet of east NE swell at around 9-10 secs with offshores creating perfect conditions. Tide is high but dropping so it should be firing by lunch time at Curly. Manly was OK this morning but full in parts and sucky in others- swell was consistent but tide was all over it. Swell should stick around till tomorrow then nick off. Enjoy.
