Wind was running late this morning

Hello Friends,

We made it to noon without really seeing anything like the predicted gale force wind in Sydney. (Turned nasty now though!) Basically it was pretty much glassy along the beaches this morning while at the same time the swell was pushing up as both the period and average height improved. The latest numbers from the MHL buoy shows the 9sec SE swell is getting close to the 3 metre mark on average (peak sea + swell is around 4m). We were getting a few sets with trough to crest faces in the three metre range on the bombs. The 9-10 second period ensured that lots of waves had pretty reasonable push as well. Certainly there were a few slabby ones getting into the joint.

I have a little Sony TX5 waterproof point and shoot camera to test at the moment. The pictures shown below were taken with it. Probably not the optimal conditions for a test though. The light levels were very low and as a consequence the shutter speed had to be pretty slow, which in turn meant I was getting blurry shots. I’ll try to post a little gallery later of pics I thought worth keeping.
