"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Rainy Saturday morning

Hello Friends,

Lots of excitement about the forecast over the last 24 hours. As I write this the experts from the Bureau are saying that it looks like the south coast will cop the brunt of it. Right now in Sydney the rain is falling fairly steadily but we still have some swell activity. The MHL data shows it’s a couple metres from the east in the Sydney region. The average period has fallen to 8 seconds, but there’s still some 12 sec component in the mix.

Through the rain, Dee Why looked less consistent than yesterday, but as the rather grainy picture below shows, there are still a few meaty sets to be had.

Of course with all this rain, the water quality is going to be pretty ordinary. And with another week of on-again off-again showers, it’ll probably stay that way.

At this stage it doesn’t look as though Sydney is in for a particularly intense run of swell for the coming week. Equally though, it does look like we won’t see it go flat across the coming week. The wind outlook is fairly ordinary from tomorrow through to about Monday, but Tuesday to Thursday currently looks like being more favourable.

BTW, for those of you listening to 702 ABC this morning, here’s a link to the International Shark Attack File site mentioned just before my moment in the spotlight.
