Perking up into the interesting range

Hello Friends,

Another mostly cloudy and wintry morning for the first of July. But we have a little waist to chest high SE wind swell making itself felt in Sydney. Where Dee Why’s concerned that means the very occasional set wave turning up at the point with more consistent activity north along the beach. Wind was lightly offshore to begin with, but the Bureau says it should be around to the south to SE at 5-15 kts later. It should be mostly cloudy with the odd brief and isolated shower.

The Bureau’s swell model is showing the energy levels weakening a little as the day goes along. Their projections call for it to kinda hang around the metre mark for tomorrow and Sunday – with light wind from the westerly quarters. Other models are calling for a little perk late Saturday into Sunday. So, the good news is that we should have something to mess around with over the next couple days.

Beyond that, well I’d love to know what the Goat thinks because from this remove it looks as though we could have another fairly intense east coast low spinning up late next week. One of the interpretations is showing peak swell heights into the 4 metre range… that’s a long way out and as we all know, these predictions often get scaled back sharply as we get closer to the day. Still, I don’t think we mind having the prospect of big surf dancing tantalizing on the distant horizon…

Have yourself a top old Friday!
