Calm after the storm

Hello Friends,

What a night in the old Sydney eh? We copped a drenching (and that spectacular rumbling and crashing son et lumiere up in the hills behind Dee Why. Anyway, this morning dawned with mostly clear skies and light winds. There was a little SE wind swell (a metre and 8 seconds apart on average), but I only saw one surfer in the water at Dee Why and he was just wading in when I had to go.

Looks as though you might get a waist high wave at the exposed spots and the wind should be okay for the next few hours because it’s due to be out of the SW to NW.

Tide was high at 0705 and will hit low at 1340.

Swell outlook is not all that swell it has to be said. According to this morning’s run of the swell models, this could be the peak day for the next week… argh. With any luck though, it’ll bump along in the barely rideable range so that there will be at least some incentive to get into that warm water. (Although it’ll be pretty dodgy today thanks to the downpours…)

Go well with your day!

Weather Situation from the BoM
A trough stretches from northwestern New South Wales to the central coast with a weak low off the coast. The low and trough will move slowly east today as a high south of the Bight extends a ridge east over Tasmania. These systems will result in a southerly change for most of the coast. The low will move towards New Zealand tomorrow and Wednesday as the trough stalls in the central north of NSW and weakens, and the high moves into the Tasman Sea. The high will become the dominant weather feature for NSW late in the week, strengthening and extending a broad ridge over the state.
