What a relief

Hello Friends,

Change hit our place around 1230 last night and like everyone else, we breathed a sigh of relief after that heat. Yikes. I wonder how many records were broken… and, the Bureau tells us we’ll need to get used to it.

Swell is out of the south this morning, which is hardly surprising. But while it is showing as a couple metres from the SSE out at sea, the average period is a gutless 6 seconds. So, no waves to speak of, just a rattling 20 kts of southerly.

The Bureau says that a second NE swell should join the south this evening and as a consequence have issued a dangerous surf warning.

Whether this will actually translate into something of interest is another thing again. The southerly is supposed to back off a little this morning but it’s going to swing SE, so the prospects don’t look all that terrific right now. Tomorrow’s supposed to be easterly, but light for the early… maybe we’ll get lucky and wake up to a nice combo swell on Thursday morning.

Have a great day!

Tide was high at 0640 and will be low at about 1320.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea extending a ridge to the northern coast. A cold front moves east of Tasmania and an associated trough and south to southwesterly change is moving through central New South Wales. The south to southwesterly change is expected to move through northern parts of the coast on Wednesday. Winds are expected to strengthen ahead of and with the change. As the trough and cold front move away into the Tasman Sea late Wednesday another high pressure system, currently centred to the south of Western Australia, will extend a ridge towards southern parts of the coast. The new high pressure is forecast to be located over the Tasman Sea later in the week.
