"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Work day, school day, no surf day

Tiny wavelet at Dee Why
Hello Friends,

No energy to speak of in our local patch of the ocean. The MHL’s Sydney directional spectra chart is showing just the faintest hint of activity coming toward us from the south. But it’s under a metre on average and only 8 seconds apart. It’s a beautiful morning though!

There’s no real prospect of an improvement that I can see today. The wind’s supposed to be NW to W through to this evening. And that’ll help keep the ocean nice and smooth inshore.

There’s a strong wind warning for overnight and tomorrow for 20-30 kts of SW’ly. The swell modelling says we can expect a south pulse to full in from around midday. We might get some chest plus energy late in the day and with luck it’ll stick around for the morning sesh on Friday. Tide’s high in the mid-afternoon, so tomorrow evening could potentially see some fun being had at south spots.

Beyond that? Well, not good for Sydney I’m afraid. Hope to be proven spectacularly wrong of course, but the long range outlook is pretty ordinary according to this morning’s modelling.

Never mind, have yourself a top old Wednesday one and all!

Forecast issued at 4:11 am EST on Wednesday 14 August 2013.
Weather Situation
A cold front will cross southern parts of the coast during Wednesday, bringing gusty conditions once again, and is expected to reach the northeast early Thursday before continuing across the Tasman Sea. In it’s wake, a high pressure system will drift across the state, bringing an easing of winds until the next frontal system approaches later on Friday. Current indications are that most parts of the coast will be affected by this front during Saturday.
