Cool and tiny start to Friday

Update @1115
Still very small, but there are some little ones from middle of Coll-Narra stretch northward…

Short little dribblers if you're extra keen.

Hello Friends,

Is it just me, or was it sort of cool this morning? Wind was out of the WSW early and the Bureau says it’ll go SW soon before turning SE this afternoon. There was barely any swell energy as the day got started at Dee Why. Sets were struggling to make the knee to waist range and apart from a couple of SUP riders gliding about, no one was in the water with a board.

The marine forecast is calling for the swell to pick up from the east this morning, but when I checked there was no obvious sign of it. Something’s down at the MHL site because the spectral data hasn’t been refreshed since 0800 yesterday. So, nothing to match the forecast models against for the time being.

On that front, the long range forecasts were hopping up and down excitedly this morning about the prospects for the first week of March. They’re raving deliriously about a run of big, powerful east swell… yeah, well, we’ll see…

Hope your Friday is a good one and yes, I’ll be keeping an eye out for that predicted swell bump and if I see anything start to happen, I’ll update.

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure system is centred to the southeast of Tasmania, with an associated trough extending through northeast New South Wales. This trough will move east and weaken today as a high pressure system south of WA strengthens a ridge across southeast Australia. This ridge is expected to be the dominant synoptic feature in the region during the next few days, with a new high developing over the Tasman Sea later on the weekend.
