Smaller again and marginal at Dee Why

Hello Friends,

Aw Huey… after perking up yesterday, the energy levels at Dee Why seem to have slumped back to near flat. Wind has shifted around to the ENE and surface conditions are choppy as well as very small. Swell is out of the ESE at 1.5 metres with an average period of about 7 seconds – hence the marginal conditions. Magnet spots might be into the knee to thigh high range, but Dee Why looked like it’d be doing well to make knee high on the bombs.

Low tide today is at 0755 and will be high at 1350. The wind is expected to be NE all day and should be up to 15-20 kts by late this afternoon.

Over the last few days, the forecasts have moved from hopeful for the end of the week, to a more ho-hum outlook. The hoped-for east pulse seems less likely in the near term, although at least one of the long range models is showing something along those lines happening maybe late next week.

Oh well, at least the water is bee-yoo-tee-full, so going for a paddle, waves or not, is a delight.

And on that note, may I wish you a Wednesday with its share of small delights!

Weather Situation

A strong high centred near New Zealand extends a ridge to the northwest, and is directing generally east to northeasterly winds along the New South Wales coast. A cold front will pass to the south later today and Thursday as the ridge weakens, bringing a brief southerly change to the south and central coasts. A new high is expected to move across from the west in it’s wake, and should remain slow-moving over the southern Tasman Sea during the weekend.
