Showery, cool with choppy, small surf for Friday

Hello Friends,

Managed to get my first look between showers this morning at around 0740. Ocean is pretty choppy looking along the exposed stretches, but there is some energy and the wind was SW for the keen types in the water at Dee Why. There were a few at the point, but the rain came again before I saw anyone catch a wave. From where they were sitting, I’d say it was waist to chest with the odd plus to shoulder or so. A kayaker chasing waves in the beachy managed to pick one up though (see pic).

Curiously, the MHL buoy was picking up 15 seconds of 2.3 metre energy from SE. I say curiously, because the long period energy was not evident during my (brief) observation.

Tide was low at 0440 and will be back to high at 1105. The Bureau says the wind will gradually shift to the south and then SE this afternoon. The showers will stick around all day and, in fact, for the next week. Not great for the water quality, but we gardeners appreciate it.

As for the week ahead, well, have a look at the Goat’s latest here.

Have a safe and fun Friday everyone!
