Wednesday looking weak and tiny out at sea

Hello Friends,

At 0630 Sydney surf prospects were looking pretty ordinary. The MHL buoy was detecting only a metre of 8-sec SE wind swell. Tide’s now coming off the low, so it’ll be back to high by lunchtime. Wind’s WNW now, but going NE this afternoon ahead of a late south change.

I’m not really seeing much of interest for Sydney on the models this morning. The next couple of days are looking like offering only the faintest of little wind swell options. I reckon ankle to knee plus for the early today, and then the same or less into the weekend.

I might have a postcard for you later, but surf outlook in SoCal is also on a downward trend from marginal…

A shout out to all of you engaged in caregiver duties for a relative or friend. Thank you for your often unsung work from someone who’s had the opportunity for a little hand’s on experience lately. Look after yourselves too!

Weather Situation

A slow-moving high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards northeast New South Wales, while a weak trough lies near the southern border. This pattern is bringing northerly winds to most coastal waters today, which will shift southerly in southern and central parts later in the day as the trough moves through. This change will be short-lived, however, as the ridge is expected to return to dominance and restore a generally northerly flow during Thursday. Another brief southerly change is likely to affect southern parts late Thursday, before a more energetic vigorous frontal system brings a stronger and more enduring change Friday evening or Saturday.
