Dark and southerly early

Hello Friends,
Pretty much in line with the forecasts, this morning saw 20-25 kts of SW wind and showery, dark grey skies. Although the wind was favourable, the swell was minimal. As the wind comes around to the south, then it should start picking up.
Out at sea the MHL buoy was picking up 2.6 metres of 8-sec SSE wind swell as of 0400. That short period accounts for the knee high dribble showing at Dee Why as the day kicked off. Swell has kicked up down at Batemans Bay, but it’s just short period, straight south stuff.
Not much of a day for a surf I’m afraid.
It’ll be interesting to see what the Goat thinks, but my reading of the runes says that we probably won’t be seeing much of interest until Sunday.
Have yourself a top old Thursday everyone!

Grey and windy and not much in the way of wave energy at 0700

Weather Situation
Winds along the New South Wales coast will tend southerly and strengthen today as as cold front moves across the southern Tasman Sea and a low pressure system deepens in the central Tasman. A high pressure system south of the Bight will extend a ridge over the state’s east in the wake of the this front, maintaining a fresh to strong south to southeasterly airstream during Friday. The high is expected to be centred over the Tasman Sea on later Saturday and on Sunday as the low begins to weaken, allowing winds to ease in most areas and turn northeasterly over southern waters.
