Nup, not happening this morning

Hello Friends,

As of 0720 the North Head weather station was showing 15-20 kts of SSE wind. The Sydney MHL buoy was showing 2.7 metres of 8-second SSE wind swell. A heavy shower came through not long after I grabbed this morning’s pics and the Bureau tells we can expect more of the same along with more S-SE wind in the 25-35 kt range.
No one was in the water that I could see (and why would you bother given the dire conditions). From the look of the forecasts, we’re staring down at least three more days of blasting southerly wind and it’ll be showery through Monday on current reckoning.
With luck the wind will start relenting around Sunday. Swell should still be around the shoulder high mark for Sunday-Monday (according to several of the models).
Have a good – if blustery – day one and all.

Weather Situation
A developing low pressure system off the northern New South Wales coast will move slowly northwards on Wednesday, before tracking east over the Tasman Sea during Thursday. A high pressure system currently over the Bight will move slowly east in the wake of the low, to be centred over Tasmania by the end of the week. The combination of these systems will see strong to gale force southerly winds persisting across waters south of the low on Wednesday and Thursday, before gradually easing towards the end of the week as the high shifts closer.
