Hello Friends,

Very few even faintly plausible surf options around the place this morning. If you’re really desperate and you don’t mind risking your health in the likely polluted water, there were some scrappy shoulder high wave faces at south Steyne and waist plus-ish options at the Bower. Dee Why was out of the question, but again, water quality issues to one side, you could, in theory, catch something at Collaroy if you had a long enough board.
As of 0930 North Head was showing 18-27 kts of SSE wind. Tide was high at 0915 and at 0800 the MHL buoy was showing 3.7 metres of 9-sec SSE swell. Up at Byron Bay the buoy was registering 6 metres at 0400! Yikes.
Wind’s expected to stay S-SE today and not to get below 20 kts. Swell is predicted to come back a bit around midday by then to come back up into the 3 metre range later. At the same time the Bureau says there should be about a metre of east in the mix. Tomorrow the wind should throttle back a touch, but still be S-SE and swell is predicted to be 2.5-3 metres. Saturday is currently predicted to be S-SW wind at 10-15 kts with SE swell 2-2.5 metres.
So, maybe something of interest tomorrow in the corners and again on Saturday as the wind moderates. Swell energy looks like not dropping into the marginal range until mid next week…
Have yourself a great Thursday one and all!
