Looking like a rest day

Hello Friends, A post-rain sparkle to the light as Friday kicked off along the beaches. Wind was 7-9kts from the NW at 0720 and there were large patches of blue sky. I couldn’t see anyone in the water and it looked like it was maybe ankle to knee with the odd thigh-high bomb set along […]

Manly, lunchtime and Chris was there with the 400mm

It was hump day today in Sydney. Lunchtime was upon me and I needed to escape from work for a hour and clear my head so I decided to jump in the car with my Nikon 400mm 2.8 and head for Manly and see if there was any decent waves. I arrived at North Steyne […]

Swell for Thursday morning

Hello Friends, Still shoulder high with the odd plus set at the point and along the beach. Tide dropping to the low at 1045, 95% chance of rain later. Wind offshore early but due to go E-SE the N-NE 15-25 kts. Swell should stay about same across the day but wind will be the decider. […]

Work to surf Curly

A few folk have battled out the back to chase the 1.5x overhead set waves at 0840. Looks like a lot of work for rare payoff so good on the crew giving it a go

Swell still here

Hello Friends, At 0600 the MHL buoy offshore from Sydney was recording 2.8 metres of 10-sec SSE swell. As the pictures show, this was translating into solidly overhead sets at both the point and along the beach at Dee Why. Tide was dropping to the low at 0955, wind was coming lightly from the WNW […]

Dee Why

Raw and lumpy bumpy conditions for the 20 strong crew at the point as of 0930. Tough to catch. Consistent though. Wind offshore. Set faces 1.5x overhead.

Manly solid

A few pics to give you an idea. Swell thumping and few are getting caught along the beach.
